There are days when the world feels like it has paused just for you, when the sun shines brighter, the breeze carries whispers of freedom, and every moment feels perfectly framed for memory. This was one of those rare treasures. With Dorota by my side and Monty, our spirited little Shih-Tzu, trotting happily along, we ascended the slopes of Góra Żar aboard the mountain train.

At the summit, the world unfolded beneath us, gliders soaring gracefully, the sky alive with the hum of adventure.
From up there, every detail seemed amplified—the patchwork of forests and meadows, the glint of sunlight on the river far below, the gentle undulations of distant hills. Monty, for his part, treated the summit as a personal kingdom, sniffing the crisp mountain air and darting from one viewpoint to the next, ears flopping in the breeze.
We lingered, absorbing the quiet thrill of height and horizon, before descending slowly to the small village below. The day ended simply yet perfectly with fish and chips at the Yacht Klub Polski Bielsko, the taste of salty warmth lingering as we recounted our miniature adventures.

There was a sense that the world, in all its complexity, had gifted us a pocket of timeless joy—a day to store away in memory, much like a photograph that never fades.
This journey to Góra Żar was about more than the ascent or the view from above — it was about feeling the wind, the hum of gliders, and the quiet thrill of adventure. To see all the photographs from this trip, visit the full ‘Góra Żar: Above the Wind’ gallery.
