Last Sunday, under a sky of unbroken blue, we found ourselves standing at the edge of Zbiornik retencyjny Gańczorka — a reservoir where human ingenuity and untamed nature meet in perfect, unsettling harmony. The sun poured gold across the water’s surface, each ripple catching the light like a fragment of an untold story.

The air was warm, almost heavy, yet the breeze carried whispers from the surrounding forest. Here, time feels suspended; you cannot help but imagine the countless seasons the reservoir has witnessed, the storms it has endured, and the quiet moments it has held in still reflection.

My wife Dorota and I wandered along the shoreline, taking in the interplay of shadow and sunlight on the water.

Monty, our Shih Tzu, occasionally rode in his little pram — the “Monty Truck” — watching with regal calm. But even he seemed captivated by this place, as if sensing that beneath the calm surface, Gańczorka keeps its own counsel.
Some places you visit. Others stay with you. Gańczorka is the latter — a mirror of sky and memory, holding more than it reveals.
