Meet Monty, our spirited little Shih-Tzu and the undisputed star of our adventures. Fluffy, clever, and endlessly enthusiastic, he has a personality that fills every corner of our lives — and often leaves us laughing, amazed, and occasionally negotiating with a very determined dog.

Monty has his favourite mode of transport: the Monty Truck, a sturdy little trailer attached to the back of my bike that doubles as a pushchair for walks through villages. From here, he surveys the world like a tiny general, tail wagging, ears alert, eyes sparkling with curiosity. But don’t be fooled — the Monty Truck is as much about his comfort as it is his rules. On walks, he is the navigator, the boss, and sometimes the slowest member of the expedition. If a path doesn’t suit him, he plops down decisively, planting himself on the spot, and makes it very clear which direction he approves of — or that the adventure is over for the moment. Negotiation is required, patience is tested, and in the end, he always wins our hearts.

Monty is a bundle of affectionate energy. He greets everyone with enthusiasm, often jumping up to lick your ear, a joyous declaration that life is meant to be celebrated in big, silly ways. His excitement is contagious: you can’t help but smile when he bounds ahead, twirling with glee, or pauses mid-trail to stare at something invisible to human eyes, clearly spotting wonders only he can perceive.

He’s endlessly curious, yet also wise in his own doggy way. On long walks, he sniffs every corner, investigates every tree, and sometimes stops to rest in exactly the spot that feels right to him — reminding us that adventure is as much about pausing to enjoy the moment as it is about moving forward. Monty teaches patience, presence, and how to find joy in the small things: a breeze ruffling his fur, the sunlight dancing on the path, or a perfectly timed sniff.

Monty is not just a pet; he is our companion, co-pilot, and mischievous guide. He transforms ordinary walks into little adventures, ordinary mornings into playful escapades, and ordinary days into stories full of laughter, surprises, and affection.
