Autumn walk by the water: Our afternoon with Dorota and Monty was filled with golden light and gentle beauty. The sky was an endless blue, sunlight glancing off the reeds and water, promising a quiet adventure close to home.

Dorota and I set off together, our Shih Tzu, Monty, trotting eagerly ahead, his nose drawn by every new scent carried by the crisp October breeze. The lakeside path was lined with golden grasses, swaying gently as if waving us on our way. Shadows danced through the reeds, their silhouettes giving texture to the stunning blue reflection of the sky on the water.

The landscape felt alive with colour—burnished greens blending into gold, russet hints in the distance, and the kind of stillness that invites deep breaths and quiet smiles. Dorota paused often, her gaze lingering on the reflections and the row of trees adorning the far bank. Monty, meanwhile, explored every tuft and path with curiosity only a dog can bring.

We followed the water’s edge, the sound of birds settling in the rushes a gentle background to our laughter. Every turn revealed new pockets of autumn—trees clinging to leaves, others already bare, their branches sketching patterns against the sky. The peace was only broken by Monty’s occasional bark at a distant duck or rustling in the reeds.

The light grew golden as we wandered further, basking in those last, warm rays. We cherished this autumn walk by the water, surrounded by shimmering reeds and tranquil reflections.
